When I find a new wine to sell at the Corkscrew, it signals the beginning of a long term relationship... consider it a marriage. Understanding the region, its terroir, and the winemaker gives you a look into a wine's soul--like understanding your partner in life. Finding a terroir wine like Sarada, unique and full of its own intricacies, a brainchild of passion and hard-work, is rewarding; finding a new wine for the Corkscrew, at an incredible price, is a lot of fun!    

Sa-Ra-Da, or Sarada, is named after a variable wind that blows through the vineyards (north to south) in favorable weather. It's a cool breeze that brings freshness to the thick air of a hot day (typically 100+ degrees in the summer here!). Gently rolling hills at altitudes ranging from 700 - 1,000 meters (2,296-3,280 feet) give way to more level land around the towns of Almansa and Bonete, where the vines are planted in fertile topsoil.The conditions are ideal here for the growing of the red-skinned, red-fleshed grape Garnacha Tintorera. Accented by the perfumes and burly Monastrell fruit, further colored by the bright purple Petit Verdot, Sa-Ra-Da's unoaked blend has a bright acidity balanced by ripe red cherries and spicy tones of black and white pepper in the finish. The time the wine spends on the fine lees in tank contributes a fully developed mid-palate that gives cause for one to think of delicious grilled red meats and wonderful barbecue pairings.
