Cross Culture, an ethnic Indian restaurant located in Doylestown, PA and Haddonfield, NJ, opened up their newest location at the Princeton Shopping Center, Princeton, New Jersey.
Indian cuisine is as diverse as its culture, languages, regions and climate. Cross Culture offers a selection of Indian haute cuisine made from the finest and freshest ingredients. The restaurant tones down the use of the chilies and enhances the richer ingredients to create dishes that are gentler, but retain the flavor, aroma and texture for which Indian cuisine is rightfully famous. Their menu offers a healthful alternative as well, with the use of vegetables and leaner meats. Cross Cultureserves both vegetarian and non-vegetarian cuisine for take-out or eating in the restaurant.
The cuisine at Cross Culture is traditional " Northwest Frontier " Indian, which is a style that focuses on meat cooked in a traditional clay oven called Tandoor - bringing rustic flavors alive. On your culinary journey at Cross Culture restaurant, you may choose from a selection of meticulously prepared and presented dishes from the traditional Tandoori Chicken to the delicious homemade Indian breads and tantalizing desserts. Chicken Tikka Masala stewed with tomatoes is the speciality of the house. Order any item on the menu and you can't go wrong.
Whet your appetite with a selection of appetizers that include the traditional chicken or vegetable samosas served with mint and tamarind sauce . A Tandoor oven is used to cook popular entrees and appetizers; it’s the Indian version of grilling. It uses heated coals to create such intense heat that the food cooks very rapidly, fat free and retaining flavor and wholesomeness. Pieces of chicken, meat or vegetables quickly become crispy on the outside while remaining juicy inside. However, the secret of the tandoori recipes lie mostly in the marinating. The food is marinated in a savory combination of spices and yogurt for hours.
Indian flatbreads are also cooked in only minutes in the tandoor. Cross Culture offers the traditional Naan white bread (plain or garlic), a variety of stuffed bread such as the Aloo Paratha- a potato-stuffed bread, or the Panir Kulcha- a baked bread with a homemade cheese filling. Special beverages include yogurt drink Lassi, with or without fruit, or Masala Tea. Popular deserts are the Mango Sundae or Kulfi - an authentic Indian ice cream.
Cross Culture’s interior is vibrantly colored and richly textured, with authentically ethnic décor from India. Soothing and enchanting music also creates the ideal background for a quick lunch or more leisurely dinner.
