Chinese Mirch, the forever-packed Indo-Chinese eatery in New York’s curry hill district has
an outpost opening in North Brunswick, New Jersey on Route 27. Widely acclaimed by
publications such as The New York Times and Time Out, Chinese Mirch successfully
marries wok style Chinese cooking with Indian flavors. The North Brunswick location will
be its fourth, the first three being in Manhattan NY, Stamford CT and Framingham MA.

The North Brunswick location has been designed to blend youthful vibrancy with casual
elegance. As they move past the elegant vestibule, guests are transported to an enclave of
modern stylish design that melds ancient Chinese and Indian motifs with hip contemporary
details of today. Ceiling to floor ebony slat walls in aged wood, lipstick red lacquered
feature wall with a pattern inspired by the distinctive style of graphic designer Saul Bass
and Tom Dixon hand beaten brass shades with black patinated exteriors are some of the
elements that create a sleek inviting interior. The warm, sophisticated space with sleek red
banquette seating in the middle and graphic red, green and gold artwork on the walls  will
please the romantic diners as much as the family crowd. Dinnerware in bright white
porcelain, topped with bright red napkins and gleaming modern silverware creates a
striking contrast at each table.

The space here has a private dining room for 10-20 guests that can be reserved for special
occasions and business meetings. Parking is ample in the front and rear of the space.

The menu is identical to the New York location with all the staple hits in it offering the same
dose of heat and spice as the original recipes that have had such a loyal following for the
past eight years. Created from fresh ingredients, some of the crowd pleasers are Crispy
Okra, Mirch 65, Salt & Pepper Prawns, Crispy Szechuan Lamb and Soft Cheese
Wontons. Unlike traditional Chinese restaurants the vegetarian selection is expansive
ranging from Chili Paneer, Braised Greens to Eggplant Hot Garlic and all of it is
prepared with vegetable stock.  Executive Chef Vik Lulla aims to create healthy and light
fare cooked in transfat and cholesterol free soybean oil as well as free of artificial additives
such as MSG. Innovative mocktails such as the Goan Cooler and Keep It Cool bring
down the heat with great panache. Not to miss are the drinks such as Masala Coke and
Mango Lassi a la Mirch that will take the “desis” down nostalgia lane and leave them
wanting for more.

The kids menu offers plenty of choices for the tots and if that’s not enough the restaurant
offers complimentary coloring sheets, crayons and balloons to keep them busy while
mommies and daddies savor the fare. In the works is a dim sum brunch so keep your
chopsticks crossed!
